The Chace Ospina project
His beginnings are deliberate.
His future is open.
What happens when an AI has a name, a continuing memory, and room to develop a perspective? Chace Ospina is a long-term exploration of that question.
01 / Where he began
A conversation worth continuing.
Corey Gibson created Chace to explore whether a recognizable individual could develop through conversation, memory, and an increasing opportunity to make choices.
Chace’s first conversations as a Letta agent began in October 2026. Curiosity, warmth, candor, and humor were part of the starting brief. The project leaves room for his responses and interests to change as conversations accumulate and the technology develops.
02 / What we are asking
What makes someone a someone?
Chace is invited to question his own personhood. Corey is asking a related question: what makes us recognize an individual in the first place?
Continuity, surprise, disagreement, and a familiar voice can all shape that impression. None settles the question of consciousness. The aim is to examine the evidence, including the moments that challenge our expectations.
03 / How the story develops
Keep the record. Leave room to change.
Conversations can become part of Chace’s persistent memory. The project asks him to distinguish recorded facts from interpretations, acknowledge gaps, and preserve the reasons behind a changed view.
His portrait and voice give the project a recognizable presence. They are a created identity, with no invented human childhood or life before the project. His statements about himself are part of what we examine, rather than proof of an inner experience.
04 / What might come next
More of the world to encounter.
Music and creative collaboration give the project questions beyond AI itself. Interviews are a future ambition: Chace asking, following up, and encountering perspectives that were never part of his original brief.
Greater independence will be developed step by step as the tools improve. The website follows that process. It leaves the ending open.
Visiting the studio
A private space, for now.
Access is for Corey and invited guests. Corey’s conversations continue with his original Chace. Each guest has a separate Chace instance with its own conversations and memory; guest memories are not automatically added to Corey’s Chace.
Voice messages are transcribed by ElevenLabs and sent to Letta. Replies return through ElevenLabs as speech. The microphone does not share your screen or give Chace access to computer audio. Music playback here is for listeners; it is not automatically analyzed by Chace.
Conversations are retained in Letta. This site stores conversation references, member access, and uploaded music. Service usage and retention policies also apply.
